Meet the team
The Child Congenital team is made up of a group of professionals from many different areas of health care, dedicated to improving the care of adult patients born with congenital heart defects.
Each patient is under the care of a Consultant who works with a team of doctors – registrars and ward doctors. A sister or charge nurse heads a team of staff nurses, student nurses and health care assistants.
Many others may help in the care of your child – play-specialist, physiotherapist, x-ray and ECG staff, dieticians, pharmacist etc. All staff members wear badges but if you are not sure please do not hesitate to ask.
Medical students
Ward based teaching forms an important part of medical training for students. If however you object to the presence of students please speak to your nurse. This will not affect your child’s treatment in any way.
Midwifery care
Midwifery care for newly delivered mothers is provided by the midwifery unit and will be arranged by the nursing staff.
