Making the most of your clinic appointment
-
Attending an appointment can be a stressful time, and it’s important that you get the most out of your appointment. Here are some ideas for you to think about prior to going in to see the Doctor or Nurse in clinic
- Write your questions down before you go in – sometimes you can forget what you wanted to ask
- Consider taking another person in with you as often 4 ears are better than 2! (this may be a partner, friend or family member)
- During your appointment ask to take a copy of your ECG on your phone (so you have a copy of this in case of an emergency in the future)
- Before you leave, make sure you have a contact number of someone you can get in touch with between your appointments if you have any questions following your appointment or you are unwell and need advice (this is usually the Cardiac Nurse Specialist)
- Remember this is your opportunity to ask as many questions about your heart condition, discuss future treatments and any implications to your life
