  • Clinical Psychology and Counselling Service for Adult Congenital Cardiology

Living with a heart condition can be a very challenging experience. It is not uncommon to go through a range of different thoughts and feelings about your health, which can impact on mood, well-being and quality of life.

We offer confidential emotional support to help you manage and overcome difficult feelings about your heart condition, such as stress, worry, panic, frustration and anger, low mood and sadness.

  • We start by offering an initial assessment appointment to gather information about you and the things you may be finding difficult, we will then make a plan to help. First sessions usually last an hour to an hour and a half and can be done on the phone or in person. We only share what we have talked about with the professionals involved in your care.

We recognise it can sometimes feel difficult to talk through personal thoughts and feelings, however, we are experienced clinicians who are trained to listen, we always go at your pace and you are welcome to bring a close friend or family member along with you if helpful.

To speak to a member of the team, please contact us on 0113 2065897 (Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm) or ask your Specialist Nurse or Consultant to get in touch.
